Marian Michaels, MD, MPH, a physician in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Professor of Pediatrics and Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, is a leading, national and international authority on infections in immunocompromised hosts particularly after transplantation. Dr Michaels has served in numerous leadership positions including having been the Chair of the United States OPTN ad hoc Disease Transmission Advisory Committee (2018-20) and joining the OPTN/UNOS board in 2020.
She also leads an active Clinical Research Unit at CHP with a wide range of studies including those looking at infections in children with transplants or cancer, studying treatment of children with congenital Cytomegalovirus and looking at the epidemiology of respiratory and gastrointestinal infections in children including SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19.
