Medical Student Scholars Program
i4Kids and Dean Anantha Shekhar are pleased to offer $1000 scholarship awards to all Pitt medical students interested in pediatrics. Desiring to promote increased diversity in pediatric medicine and recognizing the extraordinary achievements of trailblazing students, we are especially interested in supporting students who are first-generation college graduates (defined at the bottom of the page). Those who are not first-generation but have demonstrated financial need are still welcome to apply.
Awardees are:
- offered mentorship opportunities with i4Kids / Pediatric faculty
- invited to i4Kids events including speaker series, networking opportunities and annual symposium
This award is intended to address the additional financial burden of USMLE exam and test preparation fees, but the scholarship money has no restrictions and may be used as needed by the student.
Note: MSTP students are welcome to apply; however, due to federal regulations, MSTP awardees are not allowed to accept the $1000 scholarship. They may still participate in all other aspects of the program.
Previous awardees are not eligible.
Awardees are selected by a selection panel composed of representatives in the School of Medicine Office of the Dean, Department of Pediatrics, and Admissions and Financial Aid.
i4Kids managed this program from 2021 to 2024 with 42 Pitt medical students total awarded and matched with Pediatric faculty mentors.
