Biography
Dr. Sutherland's research interests lie in the initial step of the viral replication cycle. She is particularly interested in how virus:receptor interactions dictate species and tissue tropism in the brain. Her research spans from collaborative structural studies to receptor characterization in cultured primary and transformed cells to studying how receptor use influences reovirus pathogenesis in a mouse model. Dr. Sutherland also functions as the lab manager within the Dermody lab.
